League Funding, Concessions and Why We Rely on Volunteers

Our concessions booth is the largest single source of funding for the league, and the proceeds from concessions are the reason we are able to keep our league going.
Ask any league board member, however, and they will be quick to tell you that staffing the concessions stand is the biggest challenge we face every season.
This year we’ve decided to try something new, in hopes of keeping that burden from falling on the same few folks as it has in years past.
Each team will be responsible for staffing the concessions booth for a certain number of days (likely 2-4 days per team)
with parents/family/friends - even older siblings. The Team Parent from each team will relay open concessions dates to parents early in the season.
We know that no one wants to miss out on the action when their child is playing, so those days don’t have to be on a day where your team is playing.
Concessions shifts can be broken up into hours, or staffed by date. Concessions are open for 2 hours (give or take) per the average game day. Volunteers will prepare the stand; serve hot dogs, popcorn, candy, etc; take payments from customers; and clean up after.
We can't say it enough - our kids are relying on us as parents to step up and make sure their league thrives! This seemed like the fairest approach to making sure this responsibility is shared equally across the league.
Sincerely,
The Beaufort Little League Board of Directors
